Cancel Christmas for Rachel Lyndhurst because ...

...I just had all mine early and in one go.

Remember I told you I was going to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend? And I promised you pictures? Well, here we go:

Here's a snap of me with one of the vehicles that the Queen has travelled in - a great big Lincoln. Check out the cool  number plate!

And this is as close as I could get to a Bugatti Veyron Vitesse. Very luxe. Very pricey.

I was within a few steps of Chris Evans at one point, and he's definitely a millionaire, but I fumbled with my camera and missed the moment. Here, however is one of his Ferrari collection.

The lovely, generous man has  auctioned off the use of his collection to raise money for the charity Children In Need. According to  the Southern Daily Echo he's raised £1.5 million so far. Brilliant stuff!

Here's  Matt Baker's back (just in case any of you are desperate fans!).

Then I thought I heard angels singing ... and began to run (truly I did!).

And he was SO polite and kind and utterly charming ...

Yep, another dream come true - I met DAVID GANDY! Yes! David superdupermodel Gandy!

Now, those of you who know me, also know that this is a big deal for me. A Very Big Deal Indeed. So I forgot to take any arty photographs of vintage champagne, because I was too busy drinking lots of it. For the shock you understand.

And now I need a very long lie down ...

Oh, you jammy wotsit! LOL! Your face in the second picture with him says it all really.

I'm surprised you're standing though. Would have expected you to dissolve into a pile of drool ;-)

Glad you has such a great day, and I'm not all jealous....

*oops, my nose just hit the screen*

Look at you!!! Never seen the smile that wide!! Lucky thing you are! I know how much you adore that man! Did you have a good sniff and store the scent memory up? I sense a new novel coming on!

Mandy :))

Doris, I was shaking like a leaf for at least an hour afterwards. And gibbering a lot. Could be the last corporate do I'm invited to!

Phillipa, no I didn't. Or at least I don't *think* I told him he was the inspiration for my naughty Italian,Daniel Bracchi.

He did ask me what my name was (swoons again at His Gorgeousness)and I said something like "I'm Rachel Lyndhurst. I write romantic novels." In a very breathless way and then I think I said "You're absolutely wonderful!" *CRINGE* !!!

Mandy, I can't remember a scent because I think I actually stopped breathing at that point. I could still squeak and gush, but ... I was not that well composed. At All. Dave's already been written (not that he's my muse and obsession or anything, officer): Daniel Bracchi, The Devil to Pay, out on October 10th with the Wild Rose Press. :0)

Nina, I'd swap two Bugatti Veyrons and Her Majesty's train carriage for David Gandy. No question! xxx

Rachel Lyndhurst said...

Wasn't I just, Kiru?! I don't think I'll get luck like that again any time soon.:0)

Catherine, I remained standing (only one glass of champagne had passed my lips at that point thank goodness!), but I was probably a tad incoherent. I'm sure he gets this sort of thing happening all the time. Poor bloke he must dread having to go to the loo. Even the VIP ones. I know where to wait now ... ;0)

Rachel Lyndhurst said...

Glynis, I don't know what I did to deserve such a treat, but yes, thank you Santa! (And The Exec for getting me in. And being so very tolerent.) :0)

Rachel Lyndhurst said...

Squeee indeed, Sally! Who's next on the list, then? Hmmmm, I wonder if Daniel Craig ever hangs out down this way. Actually Johnny Depp does ... xxxx

I can just feel the excitment oozing off of you!! Ha, what lovely pictures of the two of you :-) He does seem quite charming and of course, so handsome. Lucky lady!

Sally Clements said...

I'd love to know what you were saying that made him grin like that...come'on Rach! What did you say?

Rachel Lyndhurst said...

Victoria, David is the ultimate English gentleman. And he's even more good looking in the flesh. I'm still sighing and wondering if I'll ever recover! :0)

Rachel Lyndhurst said...

If I told you, Sally, I would *have* to kill you ...

But do bear in mind he's just seen this crazed romance author in a billowing red dress stampeding towards him yelling 'Mr Gandy, Mr Gandy, I think you're wonderful and I'm your biggest fan EVER." *Cough.*

Oh, FAB, Rachel. Just FAB!

I was a bit like that with Dirk Benedict, and convinced my dad to come to Plymouth with me to see Dirk in theatre! (I think that was 2010, too). But I never got to have my photo taken with him like you have. Wow. Just Wow.

Handsome in the flesh too, with no camera trickery :D

Rachel Lyndhurst said...

Utterly fab, Teresa! His skin is beautiful ... xx

Rachel Lyndhurst said...

Lacey, it was one of the best days ever! And thank you for the compliment, very sweet. :0)

Rachel Lyndhurst said...

Alleged Author, he's certainly tall! And broad. And those biceps are HARD! *shivers* Just divine ... x

Rachel Lyndhurst said...

Not sure I'll make the Revival, Kay, as I only seem to get invited to dos that have a connection with nuts, bolts, circuits and grease! BUT Dave might, you know. He loves cars and is getting a vintage one restored himself, so keep your eyes peeled! And visit the VIP loos often ...xx

Rachel Lyndhurst said...

Heidi! You're on! Will tell all the next time we meet.

His eyes really ARE that blue, you know. And I almost did pass out afterwards! All the middle-aged business men in hospitality knew who David Gandy was by the end of the day, I can tell you. I will be on the blacklist now! Hehehe!
